Records During Bargaining

Records to keep during bargaining.

  • Dates of all meetings.
  • Time meetings were scheduled and the time meetings actually started – or didn’t
    start if management refused or is habitually late.
  • Time meetings ended.
  • Location – where the meeting was held.
  • All people who were in attendance for the association and management.
  • Time that the parties broke apart for separate caucuses and the time the joint
    meeting reconvened. Also note who asked for the caucus.
  • Signed copies of all tentative agreements reached – indicate date and time when
    the document was signed or initiated by both parties (also a record of any
    dropped or tabled items.)
  • Date, time and place of any “informal” or “sidebar” meetings or discussions with
    management representatives and what was discussed; verified by witness if
    possible.
  • Originals of every communication received from management.
  • Copies of all correspondence or communications sent to management from the
    association.
  • Verification in writing or by witness of any coercive or “anti-union” statements
    made to any member of the association by management.
  • Originals of all notes taken at all meetings.
