DID YOU KNOW?

American teenagers spend almost $200 billion a year.  The FDIC, which insures bank deposits, has put together a free publication to help teens get smart about money—saving, investing & spending it.  For instance, a $500 stereo could end up costing $900 if you charge it & pay only the minimum each month.  For a free copy of Teens and Money, go to pueblo.gsa.gov

Don’ Forget!!  With NEA-Sponsored Money Market & CD Accounts - NEA Members and their families can earn consistently high member-only yields that are among the highest in the nation, along with the safety of FDIC insurance.  Call 800.426.5268Priority Code JA15311 and Group I.D. # 10394

CONSUMER TIPS OF THE MONTH

Dual Smoke Detectors Recommended

The International Association of Fire Chiefs recommends dual chamber smoke alarms, which use both photoelectric and ionization sensing technologies, for detecting fires.

Ø  Ionization smoke alarms are more effective at detecting smoke from fast, flaming fires.

Ø  Photoelectric smoke alarms are more effective at detecting smoke from slow, smoldering fires that develop over a longer period of time.

The recommendation includes having a smoke alarm that uses both of these technologies, plus having an alarm on every floor of your home & outside each sleeping area.  And having Carbon Monoxide Detectors installed is also highly recommended by the IAFC.
